To write an essay exploring the relationship between Niccolo Machiavelli's La Mandragola's dramatic form (a variety of the contemporary "Commedia Erudita”) and its depiction of virtue and religion. The study will explore the connection between Machiavelli's comedies and his political books. In addition, the project includes an annotated, literal translation of the play, to be published together.
