To complete a book-length study of English Court Poetry of the 15th century. Through analysis of all of the better known poems, the study will define an outlook on life and a form of expressiveness that has been hinted at in historical studies. This study differs in emphasis from previous interpretations, by correcting the old idea that 15th century poets are mere imitators of Chaucer, and by contesting the tendency to describe these poets as harbingers of the coming renaissance.
