To formulate a set of typologies descriptive of the major kinds of relationships which obtained between Hellenistic prophetic/mantic personages and their audience(s) on the basis of evidence found in the corpus of Plutarch's extant writings. The study will focus on four variables: 1) the prophetic/mantic personage; 2) the audience; 3) the nature of the communication network; and, 4) the setting.
