A Sociolinguistic Study of a Chipewyan Speech Community

To pursue two goals, the ethnographic study of speaking in Ft. Chipewyan, Alberta and a grammatical study of two aspect of the Chipewyan language. The first includes the study of texts in the language and translation of the texts which have been previously published. Attitudes of Chipewyans toward the use of Chipewyan by children will also be studied.
