To investigate the problem of the prevailing attitudes towards death as they found stylized expression in literary movements. Movements to be studied include the memorial volume for Caspar Ursinus (1539), funeral orations, epitaphs and memorial poems and establish from these ideas, images and stylistic devices used in the treatment of death.
