FAIN: FT-12948-76

Susan Snyder
Swarthmore College (Swarthmore, PA 19081-1390)

To study Shakespeare's use of comic conventions and assumptions in some of his tragedies. He events comedy to set up false expectations, thus reinforcing the movement into inevitability; to increased tragic awareness. Comedy as a mode of tragic questioning, and comedy's values as the object of question will be focused on through the reading of theory and psychology of tragedy.
