The Vietnam Understanding: An Analysis of Sino-American Foreign Polticy in Indochina

The funds will support a study of Chinese and American foreign policy in Indochina during the past twenty-five years. The primary objective of the study is to analyze the effects of Sino-American policy on developments in Indochina, and particularly to examine why the escalating conflict in Vietnam did not result in a direct Sino-American confrontation. The study will conclude with an examination of possible future development in Sino-American relations and their effect on the international political system.
