Careers of Composers in Southern California, 1933-1953

To examine how composers made their living in Southern California. After 1933 a great number of composers settled in the area and became attached to the universities there. This shift to a university has been one of the most significant changes in the social makeup of American music. The reason for the shift will be investigated as well as the specific careers of the composers.
