Ecclesia ab Abel: A Study of Fourteenth Century Choirs

To examine photograph and measure sculptural ensembles scattered through Northern Europe which were designed for the interiors of church choirs and private chapels. PI believes that new arrangements in the 14th century choirs probably manifest an artistic response to a changing devotional climate. PI further believes that 14th century ecclesiastical sculpture contains the roots of Early Netherlandish painting.
