To continue work on a project which would attempt to discover the degree to which symbolic generalizations, metaphysical models, values, and exemplars framed the perceptions and thus induced the theories and research which initiated the sociology of religion, characterized its growth (or lack of growth since), and contribute to the conflicts which beset the subdiscipline today.
