To write a monograph on the 15th century Flemish painter Petrus Christus which will present him as an important artist in his own right rather than as the derivative lesser artist which many critics label him. PI will dispute the evidence by which this critical theory is supported, proving that Petrus could not have been the student of the many artists variously reported as his masters. The study will also critically examine the work of this master and place it in the context of Flemish culture of the 15th century.
