To complete research on some of the problems generated by the mass immigration to London, between 1880-1914, of East European working class Jews. PI is particularly interested in the situation faced by unaccompanied young women, and their relationship with the established Anglo-Jewish community, in the extent to which the Anglo-Jewish attitude mirrors that of the native British; and in the values of the immigrant women themselves.
