To collect archival material on specific questions concerning political and social issues of the 1870s in Serbia. Sorting out the internal politics and philosophies of this period of crisis in Serbia should provide insight into the dynamics of the processes of liberalism, socialism, and nationalism in underdeveloped countries, and should thereby have implications for European history as a whole.
