To write a study of Henry James with special attention to common elements in the design of James's fictions and in the works of 2 number of Romantic writers. The study will examine James's recurrent use of polarities and the sometime movement to synthesis and compare in to the generally Romantic dialectic of spiral return as the central design in novels, to which the other dialectical elements are subsidiary.
