To continue studies aimed at reconstructing an aspect of the historical sociolinguistics of the Mescalero Apache, a Southern Athapaskan people resident in east-central New Mexico. Pi's aim is to establish the sociolinguistics of their contacts with English speakers during the early period of United States domination, 1846-1880.
