The Triumphs and Festivals of the Este in the Late Quattrocentro

To study the form and function of a series of individual festivals and triumphs which took place in Ferrara, Modena and Reggio in the later quattrocento, cities which, at that time, were dominated by the Este family. Given the variety of audience and historical circumstances, a study of the public spectacles provided in the Este sphere will generate a sizable body of information and a range of conclusions useful not only in their own right but also as comparative material for multicivic studies.
