The People of Jamaica Bay

To develop an ethnographic and sociological account of how the human communities of Jamaica Bay, New York, are coping with major technological change. In qualitative and comparative terms the study demonstrates how each community--fishermen, workers of Kennedy Airport, residential communities and environmentalists--relates to the Bay and how processes of negotiation with outsiders may result in compromise positions. A study in human ecology.
