Oral History of the Maya of Northern Belize

To collect a series of oral histories among Yucatec Maya in northern Belize which will be analyzed as 1) supplements to other historical records that describe the politico-religious organization of Maya refugees in Belize from the Caste War of Yucatan, and 2) sources for the analysis of cultural values in Maya self-concepts of history. Study will illuminate the role of Maya politico-religious organization as a major factor in the colonial history of the British colony of Belize.
