The Organization of Popular Leisure in Fascist Italy: Agricultural Modernism

To use archival sources, government and fascist party publications and the national and local press to examine the implementation of fascist policies toward welfare and "low" culture in interwar Italy and to analyze their impact on popular associational life. The study will clarify the fascist leisure time (dopolavoro) organizations double function as community center and agency of fascist propaganda.
