To examine the thesis that the rabbinic sermon stands behind the majority of Jewish exegetical texts from Late Antiquity. PI will examine rabbinic documents to determine whether rabbis actually preached to common people and will study the Genesis Rabbah Text to determine whether it contains sermonic elements.
