To prepare a physical record and to thoroughly analyze the parts and total form, including the narrative carvings, of the temples of Kerala state in South India. These will then be compared to Nepalese temples. PI believes that stylistic affinities may be strong enough to link the richly abundant sculptural patterns of Nepal to the southern region. It should prove the consistency of ideals and artistic styles that exist to bring together the various geographical interpretations of India's "great tradition" in visual arts.
