To show how the Soviet-Yiddish writer David Bergelson (1884-1952), considered the finest stylist in Yiddish literature, integrated his changing socio-political concerns with his aesthetic vision. The study will examine literary aspects of his work, his ironic world view, and his evolution into a Soviet-Yiddish writer. Five works will be studied.
