To continue research into the literature of the Natural School and the emergence of Russian realism in the first half of the 19th century. PI will examine the literature of the Natural School (1840-1849) primarily from a "formalist" or strictly aesthetic point of view. This study should further the results of recent studies on the social evolution of the Russian people.
