To systematically investigate and explicate the varieties and forms of textual exegesis within the canonical Hebrew Bible. Through a comparative typology with traditions and types of exegesis from ancient Mesopotamia and early Judaism, PI will, clarify styles of interpretation in the Hebrew Bible and place them within a larger frame of reference.
