To translate the texts of Paramartha; a sixth century Buddhist philosopher who was the first to introduce, to any great extent, the Mahayana Buddhist school of idealism known as Vijnanavada to China. Study will also lead to an understanding of the two major Mahayana systems of thought. It will illustrate Paramartha's role in the schism which changed the course of Buddhism in China and will explain that schism as more than intellectual history.
