To complete a topographical and art-historical study of Amalfi and its monuments that is both informed by and relevant to inquires made be allied disciplines. From the 9th to the 11th centuries, the Republic of Amalfi formed one of the crucial links between Western Europe and the Byzantine and Islamic East. On November 24, 1343, an earthquake devastated much of the city. This study will assemble in a single volume all of the medieval monuments of the Republic of Amalfi.
