To investigate some 70 figurative poems by Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918) from the viewpoint of visual metaphor and visual metonymy. Study will concern itself with the three-way relationship between the various images in a picture-poem: l) between the visual and the nonvisual images (visual-textual); 2) between the visual images (visual- visual); 3) between the non-visual images (textual-textual).
