Sources for information for this book are: 1)dance and etiquette manuals of each period; 2) portraits and illustrations made during the period; 3) original examples of costumes and accessories; 4) contact with folk dance societies; 5) professional dancers that reconstruct authentic social dance; and 6) novels of manner written during the period.
