FAIN: FT-13713-78

Lance 5. Brunner
University of Kentucky (Lexington, KY 40506-0001)

To compile and publish an inventory of all sequences in Italian manuscripts written before 1300. Fifty manuscripts of Italian origin that contain sequences will be examined. Further study will be: 1) the relationship between Italian and northern sequence centers; 2) the south Italian sequence tradition; and 3) the musical style of Italian sequences. Inventory is necessary to allow this further study. The inventory and subsequent study will enable scholars to assess Italy's role in the history of the sequence.
