To dispute the traditional account of Augustine's view as being distorting and to argue that recent philosophical developments provide an alternative model that can be used to more accurately represent Augustine's theory. Focus will be on the fact that Augustine is offering an early version of cognitive systematization and that, seen in this light, Augustine's epistemology is both powerful and instructive.
