To develop a book manuscript defining more fully the fundamental difference between and limits of each medium, in order to speak more precisely about the possibility of influence and translation of techniques. The uniqueness of the modernist version of "the sister arts" will be developed. Moore, William Carlos Williams and Gertrude Stein developed their art partly in response to cubist experiments in Europe and America. More recently, the "New York School" of poets, especially Frank O'Hara and John Ashberry, have worked in close association with abstract expressionists. Manscript will explore the relationship between the arts and the translation of those ideas from one medium to another.
