Rene Char and Georges Braque: "Poets of Metamorphosis"

Although the poetry of Rene Char has become well-known in this country, an import aspect of his art, i.e., its relationship to the visual arts, has been much neglected. This project will focus on this dimension with particular attention to those Char texts (Lettera amorosa, La Bibliotheaue est en feu, et al.) illustrated by Georges Braque.
