The Indian Rural Economy of Colonial Southern Peru

To determine the nature of the Indian rural economy in Peru's Department of Arequipa from 1540 to 1760. Information on the period will come from documents microfilmed in archives of Arequipa and Lima, Peru, and Seville, Spain, as well as from travel accounts and reports. Findings will be compared with material about Indian agriculture before 1540.
