To study the iconography of Venus in Shakespeare and other major figures of the period. PI expects to produce 4 chapters of a book tracing the development of the symbol of Venus from Plato to the Tudor Court and analyzing the symbol in Sidney, Marlowe, and Shakespeare (sonnets and narrative poems).
