To continue research in preparation for a book. Beyond the Nouvelle Vague: A Study of Selected Contemporary Japanese Films. Japanese materials on their contemporary films which are unavailable in the U.S. will be collected and evaluated. PI will also visit Japanese movie studios to examine Japanese cinematography in action and will interview a number of contemporary Japanese directors.
