P.I. has completed second draft of a book which attempts to make serious work in philosophy accessible to people in other disciplines and to the educated public. Part one explains how the present assumptions, aims, and methods of analytic philosophy developed from the older tradition. Part two attempts to show how philosophy, as now practiced, can make important, contributions to the intellectual and practical lives of non-philosophers. Present study will revise and simplify Part One, do further work on an Appendix and attempt to produce a final, smoothly written typescript of the whole book.
