Use of Chromaticism in Symphonic and Dramatic Works by Simon Sechter

FAIN: FT-13983-78

To investigate the compositional works of Simon Sechter, especially his symphonic and dramatic works, to discover whether Sechter made use of the chromaticism presented in his treatise, Die Grundsatze der Musikalischen Composition, written in 1853. Since he was such a prolific composer, having completed some 8000 works, scholars have not investigated beyond choral and organ works to reveal to what extent Sechter's treatise reflects his own compositional practice.
