To write a book on the artistic theories of Vasily Kandinsky, one of the major artists of the first half of the 20th century, who taught at the Bauhaus from 1922 to 1933. Works by students in his courses, and interviews with former students along with his own extensive teaching notes will be studied. These materials will provide valuable insights into his artistic theories of color and form, as well as his philosophy of teaching, including his conception of the relationship between theoretical systems and institution in the practice of art and design.
