FAIN: FT-13991-78

To work on publication of a definitive edition of Bentham's collected works. Project will focus on an area of Bentham's legal thought which as yet has not been extensively discussed by scholars; his theory of adjudication. This topic is of interest because it lies at a crucial intersection of his Utilitarianism and his Legal Positivism. Project will encompass a critical study of Bentham’s theory of judicial reasoning. His positive views regarding proper judicial method can only be understood against the background of his repeated attacks on Common Law.
