Songs and Sonnets of Mary Wroth: a Critical Edition and Study

To examine the poems of Mary Sidney Wroth (17th cent. English writer) in the lengthy, unpublished sequel to her Urania and to determine which ideals and themes Wroth chose to develop in her later writing. PI will gather the poems into a collected, critical edition, thereby making available a collection of sonnets of special interest for its reversal of the traditional roles of lover and beloved.
