To complete a 10-year project begun when PI was in the Near East in 1965-66 as a private scholar, but vastly expanded in 1970 when he became American delegate and Permanent Secretary of the International Committee for the Nag Hammadi Codices. The responsibility of this committee is to publish a 12-volume Facsimile Edition of the Nag Hammadi Codices: as Permanent Secretary, it is PI's task to lead, and in large part to do, the work of the Committee. Present study is preparation of the 12th volume based on interviews, history, research and consultations.
