To attempt to outline all the main factors involved in the development of the Chinese Script from the earliest-origins and its first emergence as a full-fledged perfect writing system in the bone inscriptions of Shang to the bronze forms in the Chou inscriptions down to the Han time etymological dictionary, the Shuo-wen chieh-tzeu. Resulting work will be a comprehensive study of the underlying factors that are active in the continuous creation and transformation of the writing.
