The Land Question in Mandatory Palestine, 1936-1945

To prepare a publishable manuscript about land transfers and their causes in British mandated Palestine in the period 1936-45. Study will identify the mechanisms of transfer which were employed by Arab and Jew in a period of severe civil unrest and legislative injunction against land sales. A close analysis of particular land transfers (to be defined in the course of the research) will undoubtedly indicate that economic pressures were key to Palestinian Arabs' willingness to sell portions of their land.
