Completion of a Critical Edition of the Poetry of Benjamin Thompson

To complete the final revisions of a critical edition of the poetry of Benjamin Tompson, 17th century American poet, edition will then be inspected by the Center for Scholarly Editions of the Modern Language Association, and thus, for anticipated publication by a university press. Tompson (1642-1714) was an early American Puritan poet whose 31 extant poems cover an unusually wide range of themes and genres: elegies, epitaphs, mock-epics, dramatic verse, satires, and formal addresses. This edition will make primary material available to other humanists, especially intellectual historians.
