FAIN: FT-14109-78

John Mack Faragher
Mount Holyoke College (South Hadley, MA 01075-1423)

To examine social patterns in Sangamon County, Il., as a case study in an investigation of the sex-gender system of social power and authority in the 19th cent. American Midwest. County records and memorabilia collected in the Abraham Lincoln archives will provide a picture of all land-holding and inheritance, kinship, family and sex roles. This will be incorporated into a larger book on the social history of the sexes in the Midwest.
