Summer research and writing on Art History and Criticism, Classical History and the Classics.

I am applying for a 2015 NEH Summer Stipend to fund my field research for an article about the social identities of sculptors and consumers in the Library of Pantainos sculptural workshop in the Agora in Athens, Greece. My project has three goals: 1.) to analyze the sculpture from the Library workshop; 2.) to establish the workshop's labor practices based on observations of its sculptural techniques; and 3.) to ascertain the social identities of its sculptors and consumers.
