Research and writing two journal articles on female moral exemplars in Confucian philosophy.
This NEH Summer Stipend project proposes to explore philosophy of moral exemplars in the Confucian tradition, focusing on women and children, who have been historically marginalized and undertheorized. Moreover, it brings Confucianism into conversation with Western philosophy in light of empirical psychology on these issues. The goal is to contribute to a more culturally attuned normative discourse on moral exemplars and exceptionality.
