I am requesting a 2003 NEH Summer Stipend that will allow me to finish the draft of the fifth and final chapter of my book project titled Poetry Proscribed: The Trials of Poetry in France. This final chapter is titled: Francis Ponge: Poetry's Shudder of Certainty. I will research and write this chapter both in Paris and at my home institution.
