Ambrosiaster, Commentary on the Pauline Epistles: A Translation

My project in the summer of 2003 is to prepare the first English translation of a set of biblical commentaries composed in the late fourth century by the anonymous writer now known as Ambrosiaster. Ambrosiaster wrote the first complete commentary on the epistles of St. Paul. My project is to translate a selection of these: the commentaries on 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and 1 and 2 Thessalonians. My work will be published in the series, Writings from the Greco-Roman World, together with translations of the remainder of the Ambrosiaster's commentaries prepared by an international team of scholars. This will be the first English translation of the writings of this important, though little-known, ancient Christian writer.
