FAIN: FT-52919-04

The Clarencia Survey will document the topography of medieval Clarencia, Greece, the major urban center of the Frankish Peloponnese. Architectural features will be drawn and reconstructed in a three-dimensional digital format; non-architectural surface scatters will be collected and mapped in a GIS platform. The objective of the survey is the publicaiton of a monograph on the topography of Clarencia, which is lacking in the scholarship. Clarencia contains invaluable evidence for understanding the unique medieval society that occupied its city walls between 1205 and 1447. The material remains of Clarencia feature ingredients of multi-cultural interaction; their study will establish the methods of urban archaeology in medieval Greece.
